Differences between Cannabis Indica and Sativa
Indica vs. Sativa - How to grow weed
Hi!
If you have been smoking weed for a while you might have come across the terms "sativa" and "indica" (both are subspecies of the Cannabis species). But what do they actually mean and why are they important if you want to learn how to grow weed?
Sativa vs. Indica
First of all there is a difference between the shape and form of the leaves (see picture below). This is the easiest way to tell if a plant is indica or sativa. However, it is important to note that most marijuana strains are actually a mix between both (for instance 60% indica and 40% sativa), so they share characteristics of both cannabis subspecies.
As you can see on the picture above, cannabis sativa leaves are long and very thin. In contrary indica leaves are broader and usually have a darker shade of green. In addition sativa plants tend to grow extremely high (often 4 meters/13 feet or higher). Indica marijuana strains usually don't grow that high but very bushy. They have more branches which is why indica marijuana plants usually carry more buds, so you get a larger harvest.
Effects of smoking cannabis indica and cannabis sativa
When smoking cannabis indica you experience more of a physical body high, whereas cannabis sativa creates more of a psychadelic, euphoric experience.
So generally it is better to smoke sativa throughout the day if you still have stuff to get done and at night you should smoke indica when you just want to relax and don't have to work anymore.
Sativa vs. Indica - How to grow weed
There are a lot of differences between growing a sativa marijuana strain and an indica marijuana strain. This is why it plays an important role when choosing the right weed seeds you want to grow, because it will influence your whole marijuana grow.
